Blandy's Sercial 10 Years Old Madeira, 750ml
Sercial grapes are grown either high up in Jardim da Serra or at sea level in Seixal and Porto Moniz. The grapes are picked by hand in stages based on ripeness. After a short time on the skins, the juice ferments for 8–10 days with natural yeast in temperature-controlled tanks. Fermentation is stopped with grape spirit to keep the right sweetness. The wine is then aged for about 10 years in old oak casks using the traditional ‘Canteiro’ method, and gently filtered before bottling.
Tasting Note:
It presents a characteristic bouquet of dried fruits macerated in brandy, dried and bitter almonds, candied citrus fruits, and spices. The attack is dry with a pleasant sensation of citrus freshness and dried fruits such as hazelnuts, with a long finish leaving notes of spices and exotic wood.
