Travaglini Gattinara Riserva 2017, 750ml
To produce the Riserva, only the finest parcels are selected from Travaglini’s oldest vineyards, aged between 45 and 65 years. These areas, characterized by rocky terrain and a cool breeze throughout the year, influence the growth and ripening of the grapes. The vineyards benefit from a South/Southwest exposure.
The grapes are crushed and macerated for about 15 days in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. The wine is then aged for 5 years: 40 months in Slavonian oak casks of various sizes, followed by 12 months of bottle aging. This meticulous process results in an elegant and refined Gattinara.
Tasting note:
The nose reveals complex aromas of licorice, juniper berries, balsamic sandalwood, and roasted notes, followed by hints of fruit in alcohol, strawberry jam, blackberry, and withering flowers. The palate is elegant and vigorous, with dominant tannins that will evolve beautifully over time. Fresh flavors and a long, tasty persistence make each sip a constantly evolving experience.
