Ca' del Baio "Autinbej" Barbaresco 2019, 750ml
Produced since 2014, Autinbej reflects tradition by blending Nebbiolo from the warmest, best-exposed sections of different crus. The name comes from a term used by Giulio Grasso’s late father, Ernesto, to describe prime vineyard sites. The Nebbiolo grapes are sourced from vineyards planted in 2008 and 2009, growing in gray marl, limestone, and sand soils. One vineyard faces west, while the other is east-facing.
The grapes are destemmed and fermented, with maceration on the skins for 9 to 15 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine then matures for 24 months in large Slavonian oak barrels (boti), followed by at least four months of bottle aging before release.
Tasting Note:
Deep garnet red with reflections of old pink. The nose is an intense, fruity aroma reminiscent of raspberries, jam, and violets that give an ethereal feeling accompanied by sweet spicy notes and hints of cocoa. In the mouth, warm, long, persistent and slightly tannic with an aftertaste of fruity notes.
