Domaine Matrot Monthelie Rouge 2020, 750ml
100% Pinot Noir grown in southeast-facing parcels between Meursault and Volnay, planted on clay-limestone soils with vines averaging 60 years of age. The grapes were fully destemmed and underwent a cold soak for 3 to 6 days, followed by fermentation lasting 12 to 18 days in stainless steel tanks with daily pumping-over and pigeage depending on the vintage. The wine was aged for 15 months on lees in French oak barrels, 20% of which were new, and then spent an additional 3 months in stainless steel to prepare for bottling.
Tasting Note:
Aromatically, it presents red cherry and strawberry with floral lift. The palate is medium-bodied and fresh, with lean tannins and a slightly chalky finish. Overall, it’s a lively and precise Monthelie that reflects its terroir with clarity and finesse.
