Ca' del Baio "Asili" Riserva Barbaresco 2017, 750ml
The Grasso family, one of the major owners of the renowned Asili hill in Barbaresco, presents the 2011 Barbaresco Asili Riserva. With plantings dating back to 1967, this wine highlights the unique terroir of calcareous-chalky marl and southern-western exposure, farmed with generations of expertise.
The grapes are hand-picked from select micro-areas of the Asili cru and crushed into temperature-controlled wooden vats, with 10% whole clusters included. During fermentation, two punch-downs per day ensure optimal extraction of color and aromas from the skins. Maceration lasts for about 45 days. After racking, the wine ages for 30 months in second- and third-passage barriques, followed by 12 months of bottle aging before release.
Tasting Note:
Garnet red colour with shades of orange. The intense nose releases hints of lavender, pine, aromatic herbs, spices, and goudron notes. The wine is dry, full-bodied, and warm. It is exceptionally smooth and velvety in the mouth.
