Domaine Thibault Liger Belair Moulin a Vent "Champ de Cour" 2018, 750ml
Planted over 80 years ago, this unique 1.5-hectare parcel is located in the southern part of the appellation, protected from the windmill and prevailing northerly winds. This positioning allows for greater maturity and concentration of the grape clusters due to its southern exposure.
This terroir is exceptionally powerful, thanks to a subsoil of pink granitic sands rich in manganese dioxide.
The grapes are harvested manually, with 40% whole clusters used. Fermentation lasts for three weeks with very light extraction. The wine is aged in barrels of 2 to 3 wines for 15 months. This wine requires more aging in barrels to become softer and more approachable.
Tasting Note:
On the nose, the wine opens with pretty black cherry notes, blackberry aromas and hints of timut pepper. After oxygenation, a more southern side develops as well as a touch of thyme.
