Domaine Albert Grivault Pommard 1er Cru "Clos Blanc" 2018, 750ml
Pommard Clos Blanc was originally planted with white grapes by the Cîteaux Abbey in the 12th century. Today, the vineyard covers 0.89 ha and yields around 4,500 bottles annually. It features a mix of sandy clay at the top and pebbly clay lower down, with rows oriented north to south.
The wine is produced from vines averaging 38 years old, with some as old as 1937. The grapes are fully destemmed, and the wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, with minimal use of new barrels. Clos Blanc performs best in warmer years, thanks to its deep soil.
Tasting Note:
Deep red color. The nose is immediately greeted with a symphony of aromas, ranging from ripe cherries and blackberries to delicate floral notes. As the wine opens up, hints of spices and earthy undertones emerge, adding complexity and depth to the bouquet.
