Yannick Amirault St Nicolas de Bourgeuil "La Source" 2021, 750ml
Situated on sand and gravel terraces around the village of Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, this area has the most draining and early conditions of the estate. The vines are, on average, 45 years old, and the soil is fully tilled.
The grapes are 100% hand-harvested and undergo double sorting with destalking (no crushing). Alcoholic fermentation occurs in open vats with a soft maceration period of three weeks. The wine then rests discreetly in oak vats for 5 to 10 months.
Tasting Note:
This cuvee plays up the floral aspect of Cabernet Franc, with violets to the fore. Some blue fruit, then blackcurrant, tobacco and mocha. Succulent and smooth ripe tannins overlaid with scented berry fruits, lovely balance, with violets and tobacco scents on the long finish.
