Yoshi No Gawa Gokujo Junmai Ginjo, 720ml
“Gokujo” means “excellent” or “superb,”.
Brewed by Yoshinogawa in Niigata Prefecture, this Junmai Ginjo is made without added alcohol, using only rice, water, yeast, and koji for a pure expression of flavor. It uses Koshitanrei rice polished to 50%, fermented in stainless steel tanks, and aged briefly before release. It has 15% alcohol, an SMV of +1 (medium dry), and is crafted under Toji Masatsugu Fujino of the Echigo Toji guild. Recommended serving temperature is chilled, around 10°C.
Tasting Note:
Aromas are subtle yet refined, with notes of citrus, melon, and grain, accented by hints of persimmon and loquat. The palate is smooth and balanced, showing gentle sweetness and umami with a clean, dry finish. Overall, it is elegant, understated, and harmonious, reflecting the classic Niigata style.
