Blandy's Bual 10 Years Old Madeira, 750ml
Bual grapes are mainly grown on Madeira’s south coast, between Ribeira Brava and Calheta. The grapes are hand-picked in stages based on ripeness. After a short time on the skins, the juice ferments for 4–6 days with natural yeast in temperature-controlled tanks. Fermentation is stopped with grape spirit to keep the right sweetness. The wine is then aged for about 10 years in old oak casks using the traditional ‘Canteiro’ method, and gently filtered before bottling.
Tasting Note:
It presents a characteristic bouquet of dried fruits, such as figs and plums, with notes of almonds and wood, subtly completed by caramelized and vanilla notes, cinnamon and sweet spices. The attack is medium sweet, with great balance, sugars, and acids, soft, and smooth with notes of fruit cake, liqueur, and candied fruit. Pleasant and persistent, very smooth aftertaste of honey and ginger biscuits.
Residual Sugar: 95g/l
