Terrantez grapes from Câmara de Lobos, Madeira, were harvested by hand over several weeks based on ripeness. The wine was made in 1987 and bottled in 2024, aged in 650L oak casks using the traditional ‘Canteiro’ method at room temperature. The vineyard uses a trellised system and sits on volcanic soils with a mix of basalt, tufa, and other minerals. Madeira’s temperate oceanic climate, with varying altitude, humidity, and rainfall, shapes the wine’s character. Winemaking was led by Ivo Couto, with aging and bottling overseen by Francisco Albuquerque.

Tasting Note:

Predominant notes of toasted exotic woods, elements of smoked dried fruits, complex and very rich notes of old malt whiskey, iodized notes with reminiscent of musk. Only 1248 bottles produced.

The palate has a sweet attack, but soon reveals itself to be very fresh and powerful, evident saline notes, invigorating and challenging it is different at each tasting with a very long finish leaving intense notes of spice and old brandy.

Residual sugar 95g/l.
