Blandy's Terrantez Vintage 1980, 750ml

100% Terrantez from old vines on the volcanic soils of Madeira Island. After fermentation, the wine was fortified with grape spirit and aged using the traditional canteiro method in seasoned American oak casks in the warm attics of Blandy's lodges in Funchal for over 35 years. This rare variety produces medium-rich wines with remarkable acidity and longevity.

Tasting Note:

The 1980 opens with aromas of orange zest, dried citrus, clove, dark tea, date, walnut, and hazelnut with subtle honeycomb and spice. The palate is rich yet precise with concentrated dried fruits, toasted nuts, caramel, and racy acidity providing lift and balance, leading to a long, complex, harmonious finish with notes of buckwheat honey. Powerful, elegant, and beautifully mature.
