Yoshi No Gawa Gensen Karakuchi, 720ml
“Gensen” means “specially selected,” and “Karakuchi” means “dry,” indicating an extra-dry style.
Brewed by Yoshinogawa in Niigata Prefecture, this Honjozo sake uses Gohyakumangoku rice polished to 65%, with a small amount of brewer’s alcohol added to enhance aroma and texture. It is fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged briefly before release. The sake has 15.5% alcohol, an SMV of +7 (very dry), acidity of 1.2, and is crafted under the Echigo Toji tradition. Recommended serving temperature is versatile: chilled, room temperature, or gently warmed.
Tasting Note:
The nose shows subtle fruit tones with hints of cypress, raisin liqueur, and fig. On the palate, it is clean and structured, with flavors of green apple, light vanilla, and a touch of citrus, finishing long and distinctly dry. Overall, it is crisp, balanced, and understated, reflecting the classic Niigata style.
