The Sustainable Wines of Vignobles Faure

Vignobles Faure is a family-owned winery in Bordeaux, with a history that stretches back six generations. The domaine is located in the Cรดtes de Bourg appellation, often called "Little Switzerland of Bordeaux" for its steep, rolling hills, and also has significant holdings in the neighbouring Blaye Cรดtes de Bordeaux region. Their key estates include Chรขteau Belair Coubet in Cรดtes de Bourg and Chรขteau Fontarabie in Blaye.

The modern expansion began in the 1970s under Alain Faure, who grew the estate from 10 to 120 hectares. His daughter, Delphine Faure, joined the family business and crafted her first vintage in 1987. Recognized as the first woman winemaker in the Cรดtes de Bourg, she is now a respected figure in Bordeaux, known for her precise and talented approach.

A deep commitment to sustainability guides their work in the vineyard. Vignobles Faure has achieved the highest level of environmental certification, HVE Level 3 (Haute Valeur Environnementale), and its vineyards are now officially certified organic (Agriculture Biologique) by Ecocert, confirming its full transition away from synthetic chemicals. This organic viticulture ensures the health of the soil and expresses the pure character of the terroir.

In the cellar, Delphine Faure's winemaking style focuses on elegance and balance rather than power. She uses a combination of traditional and modern techniques, with ageing in French oak barrels that is carefully matched to each wine's character. This results in wines that are both refined and expressive. The quality of her work has been consistently praised by critics. For example, the respected guide Bettane et Desseauve has awarded high scores (e.g., 90-92/100) to cuvรฉes like Chรขteau Belair Coubet, and the winery is frequently highlighted in French wine media for its reliable excellence.
