Blandy's 40 Years Old Verdelho, 750ml

This 100% Verdelho is sourced from vineyards in Seixal and Ribeira da Janela on Madeira, planted mostly on volcanic basaltic soils. The fruit was hand-harvested in stages based on ripeness and fermented in stainless steel tanks using natural yeasts.Fermentation was stopped after three days through fortification with 96% neutral grape spirit to preserve the medium-sweet natural sugar levels. The wine aged for an average of 40 years in seasoned American oak casks under the traditional Canteiro system.

Tasting Note:

Bright golden in color, the wine opens with aromas of dried fruit, candied citrus, exotic spices, and cedar. The palate is medium-dry and vibrant, showing a smooth texture balanced by fresh acidity and a saline edge. The finish is long and rich, with lingering notes of dried fruit and warm spice.
