Rockford "Moppa Springs" GSM 2021, 750ml

Rockford Moppa Springs GSM 2021 is a blend of 46% Grenache, 44% Mataro (Mourvedre) and 10% Shiraz, sourced from some of the driest subregions of the Barossa Valley, including Moppa Springs, Ebenezer, and Kalimna. Vines are planted on their own rootstocks and range up to 130 years old, growing in varied soils. Grapes are fully destemmed using a vintage 1880s Bagshaw crusher, then fermented in open slate tanks. Pressing is done with a 1890s Robinson basket press, and the individual components are matured separately in seasoned oak casks before blending.

Tasting Note:

On the nose, it shows ripe red fruits, almond biscuit, dried mint, and spice. The palate is medium-bodied and refined, with juicy fruit, graphite-like tannins, and fresh acidity. Overall, it is a layered and expressive GSM shaped by traditional winemaking and the resilience of old vines in harsh Barossa conditions.
