Rockford "Basket Press" Shiraz 2020, 750ml

100% Shiraz from dry-grown, old-vine Barossa Valley vineyards (many 60-150 years old) on sandy and red clay soils over limestone. The grapes are hand-harvested, open-fermented with indigenous yeasts using traditional 1880s-style basket presses for gentle extraction, with a portion of whole clusters retained and header boards for submersion. Malolactic completed in seasoned oak. Aged 24 months in a mix of seasoned French and American oak hogsheads and large vats (predominantly old wood, minimal new oak).

Tasting Note:

Aromas show blackberry and dark plum along with pepper, chocolate, and earthy leather notes. The palate delivers full body and concentration with velvety texture and firm yet integrated tannic structure. Overall impression is one of powerful depth and seamless persistence reflecting the warm yet balanced vintage character in Barossa Valley Shiraz.
