Freemark Abbey "Sycamore Vineyard" Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, 750ml
Located in the Rutherford AVA, Sycamore Vineyard was planted in the mid-1970s and has been producing high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon since its first commercial crop in 1984. Originally purchased and restored by John Bryan, the vineyard remains under the ownership of the Bryan family and covers approximately 9.7 hectares. Sycamore's fertile clay loam soils, eastern sun exposure, and proximity to the Mayacamas mountains create the perfect climate for growing rich, textured Cabernet.
Tasting note:
Dark ruby-colored wine is rich in ripe black currant, blackberry and blueberry aromas. There are some complexities of forest floor, aromatic cedar, tobacco, cinnamon toast, and dark chocolate truffle with cocoa dust. The oak is very well integrated, adding just the right amount of spice. The wine has great depth of black fruits with a strong expression of sweet black cherry in the flavor.
