Tyrrell's "Lunatiq" Heathcote Shiraz 2022, 750ml

This 100% Shiraz is sourced from the Colbinabbin Estate vineyard on the eastern slope of the Mount Camel Range. The site is famous for its ancient, deep red Cambrian soils. The fruit was hand-harvested and fermented in a combination of open-top and closed stainless steel vats. A portion of the fruit underwent whole-bunch fermentation to add structural complexity and aromatic lift. The wine aged for 12 months in a mix of new and seasoned French oak foudres (2,500-liter) and barriques. After the ageing process, the wine was blended and stayed in the bottle for 6 months prior to release.

Tasting Note:

The nose is intense with aromas of dark plum, blackberry, and cracked black pepper, accompanied by hints of violet and dried herbs. The palate is medium to full-bodied, featuring concentrated black fruit and savory tannins characteristic of the Heathcote region. The finish is long and balanced with a refreshing mineral acidity.
