Domaine Andre Brunel Chateauneuf du Pape "Les Cailloux" Blanc 2023, 750ml
This wine is crafted from two distinct plots: Les Serres, which exclusively grows Roussanne, and Le Revès, which grows Grenache Blanc. While Roussanne is not typical for a White Châteauneuf-du-Pape, it adds aromaticity, finesse, and elegance, whereas Grenache Blanc contributes structure and texture.
Grapes are picked early in the morning to avoid heat exposure and are pressed immediately to limit oxygen contact. Fermentation occurs at a low temperature in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness, with no malolactic fermentation. The wine matures for 6 months in stainless steel tanks, with no barrel aging. The blend consists of 80% Roussanne, 15% Clairette, and 5% Grenache Blanc. The vines have an average age of 30 years, contributing to the wine's depth and character.
Tasting Note:
A pale gold color in its youth and evolves into deep gold after a few years of aging. It has floral scents of honeysuckle and jasmine with hints of honey. On the palate, white flowers and honey are joined by minerality and viscosity on the finish.
