Domaine de Belliviere Jasnieres "Les Roisiers" Blanc 2020, 750ml

"Les Rosiers" is a 100% Chenin Blanc sourced from Bellivière's younger Jasnières vines, spanning 24 parcels over 5 hectares. The vines grow on flinty clay soils enriched with tuffeau (soft limestone) and are certified biodynamic, harvested by hand. 

The grapes are direct-pressed into a tank, where the juice settles overnight before being transferred by gravity into barrels for fermentation using native yeasts and minimal sulfur. The wine is aged for 12 months in 350-liter barrels, mostly 1-3 years old, with a small proportion of new barrels each year. 

Bellivière Chenins typically retain some residual sugar, as the family allows fermentation to finish naturally. 2020 vintage was bottled with 17g/l of residual sugar.

Tasting Note:

This is an incredible Chenin Blanc that will age beautifully but will be delicious at any point in its twenty to thirty year evolution. It is a wine of great breed and subtlety, very dense in the mouth and very mineral with deep pear and stone flavours.
