Les Arches de Belliviere Astrancia Rose 2021, 750ml
Les Arches de Bellivière, their négociant label, was launched in 2017 with the arrival of their son Clément and after frost damage affected their estate.
Astrantia is made from grapes sourced from the slopes of Mont Ventoux, near Avignon, a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Aubun.
The vines for this wine are located in Ventoux, in the southern Rhône, and are farmed biodynamically, ranging from 10 to 30 years old. The hand-harvested bunches are transported in small bins by refrigerated truck to the Bellivière cellar.
The grapes are destemmed, gently pressed, and the must is placed in large oak vats. After a brief maceration, the juice for Astrancia is bled off (the remaining portion becomes the red Raisins Migrateurs) and undergoes spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, without the addition of sulfur.
This deep-colored rosé is briefly aged and bottled with minimal sulfur.
Tasting Note:
It presents notes of bitter orange rind, red apples, and black fruits, complemented by hints of baking spices and white pepper. The palate is marked by a fair amount of bite and refreshing acidity, offering a balanced and invigorating experience.
