Glen Mhor 1982 - The Recollection Series "Private Collection" G&M, 700ml
The โPrivate Collectionโ features a truly exceptional and unique range of greatly aged single malts from a mixture of celebrated, little-known, and now closed distilleries across Scotland.
40-year-old Glen Mhor matured in a refill Sherry hogshead, distilled in 1982 and bottled in 2022 from Cask N#72 at 50.8% ABV. Bottled under the Private Collection Series and the Recollection Series.
Only 174 hand-blown crystal decanters have been produced.
Designed by Charles Doig, the distillery was built in in 1892 by John Birnie and Charles Mackinlay. Unusually, the Highland based distillery remained water-powered until the 1950s and had Saladin maltings installed in 1954. It was eventually demolished in 1986.
Aroma: Rich Sherry influences with toasted hazelnuts and subtle milk chocolate. Morello cherry notes develop alongside sweet treacle toffee.
Palate: Intense stewed fruit leads to pressed apple and demerara sugar. Raspberry compote combines with soft white pepper and a hint of dried tobacco.
Finish: A full finish with citrus and summer fruit.
