Dalwhinnie 2000, Distillers Edition, 700ml
Part of the Distillers Edition, this was distilled in 2000 and bottled in 2016. Finished in oloroso casks.
Dalwhinnie is Scotland's highest distillery, located in Cairngorm National Park. Founded in 1897, it's known for its smooth, elegant malts. Dalwhinnie sources unpeated malted barley and water from Loch Aigas. They use onion-shaped stills, and mature their whisky in American oak ex-bourbon casks. Their core expression is the 15-Year-Old Single Malt, while the Distillers Edition offers a Sherry cask finish. They also release special bottlings and expressions.
Nose Heather honey, mint chocolate, a burst of Jazz apples.
Palate Raspberry compote, more apples, fresh barley, a gentle whiff of peat smoke.
Finish Clove-studded orange and a pinch of cinnamon. The light smoke remains.
