Glen Garioch 12 Year Old, 700ml
Glen Garioch is a Highlands distillery founded in 1797 by Alexander Duthie. It is one of the oldest distilleries in the industry, and is located in the "Granary of Aberdeenshire."
The distillery initially included a brewery and tannery, and has faced various challenges throughout the years.
In 1970, William Grant & Sons acquired Glen Garioch, bringing stability and investment to the distillery, and finally selling to the Beam Suntory Group in 2014.
Today, the distillery remains independent and uses barley grown in Aberdeenshire, unpeated malt, and spring water from the nearby Hill of Keith to make its whisky.
The 12 Year Old Glen Garioth is matured in a mix of ex-Bourbon and Sherry casks.
Nose: Heathery floral notes are balanced with the richness of poached pears and the sweetness of malted barley.
Palate: Crème brûlée and sweet ripe banana, followed by a light oakiness with pear fruitiness, leading to a long smooth, creamy and fragrant finish.
