St. Magdalene 1982 was matured in a Refilled American Hogshead, and bottled from cask #2094 at 54.8% ABV in 2021
Only 165 hand-blown crystal decanters have been produced.
Also known as the Linlithgow distillery, St Magdalene was established in the mid-eighteenth century. At the turn of the nineteenth century, Provost Adam Dawson, owner and distiller on the adjacent Bonnytoun Farm, purchased the distillery and merged the two together in 1826. renaming it in recognition of the site it occupied â St Magdaleneâs Cross.Â
Nose: Baked apple aromas lead to demerara sugar and faint dried herbs. Grapefruit zest develops accompanied by white chocolate and freshly cut grass.
Palate: Dried pineapple flavours infuse with passion fruit and crystallised violet. Lemon curd comes to the fore alongside subtle icing sugar and a faint herbal edge.
Finish: White pepper and charred oak linger on the finish with citrus fruit.
