Cragganmore 25 Year Old Natural Cask Strength, 700ml
Cragganmore, a Speyside stalwart since 1869, embodies "complex character" in its single malts.
More than just its own legacy, Cragganmore carries the imprint of industry veteran John Smith, the mastermind behind establishing both Macallan and Glenlivet, two Speyside giants.
In 1869, Smith brought his expertise to Ballindalloch, crafting single malts distinct for their unpeated barley and the Craggan Burn's fresh water.
The core 12-year-old Single Malt exemplifies this style, offering rich, malty notes with hints of fruit and spice. But Cragganmore's influence extends beyond solo expressions.
It forms a vital component of iconic Johnnie Walker blends, adding depth and complexity, just as John Smith's legacy adds weight to Cragganmore's own story.
Nose: Dried fruit and herbs, oak and banana, apricot and pear. A touch of barley and vanila oak.
Palate: Full and honeyed with barley, toasted oak, mature dried fruit and herbal rancio.
Finish: Exceptional length with the American oak coming through. It is mouth-watering and fruity, although it needs diluting to bring out the softness and hints of heather and violets.
