Domaine Baron Thenard Montrachet Grand Cru 2019, 750ml
Domaine Baron Thenard Montrachet Grand Cru 2019, 750ml is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
100% Chardonnay sourced from the estate's significant 1.84-hectare holding within the Montrachet Grand Cru, situated on the Chassagne-Montrachet side of the appellation. The east-southeast facing vineyard rests on thin, well-drained Bathonian limestone soils mixed with magnesium, white marl, and stone debris. The vines are managed traditionally using seasonal plowing and natural cover crop to regulate growth. The fruit is pressed slowly in a pneumatic press and transferred directly to oak vats for fermentation, which begins spontaneously using only native, indigenous yeasts. The wine ages for 12 to 18 months in French oak barrels with a consistent selection of 50% new oak, resting undisturbed on its fine lees without systematic racking to preserve structural concentration.
Tasting Note:
The wine offers concentrated aromas of preserved lemon, grilled nuts, acacia honey, and crushed limestone. The palate is powerful, muscular, and expansive, showing immense depth of orchard fruit bound by fine phenolic grip and a tightly coiled core of sharp acidity. The finish is driven, long, and dry, showcasing an intense savory element and a lingering chalky texture.
