Benromach 2014 "Contrasts" Peat Smoke 8 Year Old, 700ml

Benromach Peat Smoke 8 Year Old Sherry Cask Finished is a limited release from the distillery’s Contrasts series. Distilled in 2014 and bottled in May 2023 at 46% ABV, it was made using malt peated to 57ppm and matured in first-fill oak casks before finishing in first-fill sherry hogsheads. The whisky is non-chill filtered with natural colour. Benromach produces traditional, lightly peated single malts in Speyside using spring water from the Chapelton Spring in the Romach Hills. The distillery employs direct-fired stills and manual controls to maintain its classic style.

Tasting Note:

On the nose, the whisky shows blackcurrant compote, orange peel, toasted heather, and ginger. The palate is creamy and textured, with bramble berries, vanilla, peat smoke, and nutmeg. The finish is long and spicy, with lingering woodsmoke and hints of ginger. This edition highlights the interplay between sherry richness and assertive peat, offering a distinctive profile within Benromach’s peated range.
