Domaine Baron Thenard Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru 2020, 750ml

100% Pinot Noir from the estate's 0.54-hectare parcel inside the Grands-Échezeaux Grand Cru, making them the fourth-largest owner in the appellation. The plot is located within the prestigious Les Poulaillères sector, situated immediately alongside the vines of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret. This mid-slope site sits on deep, well-drained limestone soils mixed with clay and iron-rich debris. The old vines are farmed traditionally using seasonal plowing and natural cover crop. The fruit is fully destemmed and ferments spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in century-old, open-top wooden vats. Maceration lasts two weeks with twice-daily foot-treading for gentle extraction. The wine ages for 12 to 18 months in French oak barrels with 30% to 50% new oak and is kept on its fine lees without systematic racking.

Tasting Note:

The wine possesses deep aromas of dark cherries, plum, black tea, and wet stones. The palate is powerful and concentrated, balancing a dense core of black fruit with robust, structural tannins and integrated acidity. The finish is long, dry, and complex, ending with a savory mineral note and lingering dark fruit flavors.
