Kavalan 2009 "15th Anniversary" Oloroso Sherry Cask Matured, 750ml

Kavalan Oloroso Sherry Single Cask Strength 2009 is a limited edition release commemorating the distillery’s 15th anniversary. Distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2024 at 56.3% ABV, this Taiwanese single malt was matured for 15 years in ex-Oloroso sherry casks sourced from Spain’s Sherry Triangle. It is non-chill filtered and bottled at cask strength, released as part of a duo alongside an ex-bourbon cask variant. This bottling is among the oldest ever released by the distillery and was made available in select global markets.

Tasting Note:

On the nose, the whisky opens with candied cherries, plums, raisins, toasted almonds, citrus zest, and caramel sweetness, evolving with fig and tropical fruit. The palate is rich and layered, showing dark chocolate, espresso, brown sugar, and dried fruit, with subtle wood spice. The finish is long and warming, with lingering vanilla, cinnamon, clove, and gentle tannins. This bottling offers a deep and expressive profile shaped by extended sherry cask ageing and Kavalan’s signature tropical vibrancy.
