Benromach 2014 "Contrasts" Peat Smoke 8 Year Old, 700ml is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Benromach Peat Smoke 9 Year Old Bourbon Cask Finished is a limited release from the distillery’s Contrasts series. Distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2024 at 46% ABV, it was made using malt peated to 57ppm and matured in first-fill oak casks before finishing in first-fill bourbon barrels. Benromach produces traditional, lightly peated single malts in Speyside using spring water from the Chapelton Spring in the Romach Hills. The distillery employs direct-fired stills and manual controls to maintain its classic style.
Tasting Note:
On the nose, the whisky shows very strong smoky notes with accents of vanilla and a hint of citrus peel, plus apples complemented by white chocolate. The palate is soft and textured, with toasted oak, honey, sweet ripe fruit, butterscotch, marshmallow, and lemon sorbet enveloped in sweet smoke. The finish is long and sweet, with lingering campfire embers and hints of smoke. This edition highlights the interplay between bourbon sweetness and assertive peat, offering a distinctive profile within Benromach’s peated.
