Freemark Abbey Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, 750ml
A blend of:
Bosché Vineyard (15.4%): Located west of Hwy. 29 on Rutherford Bench, this vineyard's deep gravelly soils and seasonal creek stress the vines, intensifying dark velvety fruit flavors.
Broken Rock (10.8%): On the southeast side of Napa, this vineyard's western aspect and well-drained soils concentrate Cabernet flavors.
TBarT (8.4%): In the eastern mountains of Alexander Valley AVA, volcanic soils produce wine with deep garnet color, dark fruit, and firm tannins.
Keyes (8.0%): Near Angwin at 1,850 ft. on Howell Mountain, volcanic soils produce Merlot with dark fruits like blackberry and currant.
Budge Brown (6.6%): In the eastern hills of Pope Valley, volcanic tufa soil creates wines rich with dark cherry aromas.
75.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16.6% Merlot, 3.3% Cabernet Franc, 2.6 % Petit Verdot, 2.0% Malbec. Aged for 25 months in 86% French Oak, 32% new and 14% American Oak, 8% new.
Tasting Note:
Dark ruby color with great complexity, the wine expresses aromas of fresh boysenberry, blackberry pie, Bing cherry, dark chocolate, chocolate berry truffle dusted with cocoa powder, all integrated with the spicy sweetness of oak, cedar, cinnamon, clove and a hint of black pepper. The body is very full with a soft entry, coupled with dark cherry/berry flavors that develop from start to finish.
