Cakebread Merlot 2019, 750ml
This Merlot blends grapes from our Napa Valley estate vineyards, including Suscol Springs Ranch, which produces concentrated, supple tannins due to its rocky soils, and a warm Rutherford vineyard known for nutrient-rich soils. This diversity results in a wine with deep fruit flavors, silky mouthfeel, bright acidity, and refined tannins.
A blend of 99.9% Merlot, 0.1% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Aged 17 months in 44% new French oak, 56% neutral French oak
Tasting Note:
This is a savory, bold and structured wine, with a firm foundation. Hints of dried herbs, along with aromas of deep blackberry and black cherry, are evident along with mineral notes of crushed stone. The flavors are deeply concentrated with black plum, as well as fresh blackberries to match the nose. Freshness and acidity are followed by silky textures and refined, elegant tannins.
