Cenit is crafted from six hectares of historic vineyards in Tierra del Vino de Zamora, with vines aged between 80 and 100 years. These vineyards, characterized by sandy soils and clay deposits from the Duero River, have endured through periods of abandonment. The terroir produces a wine that is both refined and profound, embodying the essence of the region.

The 2010 vintage was hand-harvested in early October, with meticulous grape selection and independent fermentation for each plot. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation and was aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, 40% of which were previously used. The result is a serious yet enjoyable wine, highlighting the unique qualities of its origin.

Tasting Note:

It is an intense, elegant and complex wine. It develops and evolves as it oxygenates, displaying countless nuances. Balsamic and spicy notes combined with red and black fruit. Perfect balance on the palate, with a great complexity.

About Vinas del Cenit:

Part of the Avante Selecta group, this winery in Zamora was established in 2004. It features extremely old Tempranillo vines, thriving in sandy soils resistant to phylloxera. The winery emphasizes the unique local clone of Tempranillo, known for its thick skins and distinctive flavors of coffee, licorice, and sweet spices.

Winemaking involves open vats for fermentation and malolactic fermentation in barrels. The wines produced here showcase the character and minerality of the region, with offerings ranging from approachable, youthful wines to more concentrated and textured expressions from the oldest vines. The altitude here, higher than in the neighboring Toro region, favors a slower ripening process, enhancing the complexity and depth of the wines.
