Domaine Bernard Gripa Saint Joseph Rouge 2021, 750ml

100% Syrah, this wine is primarily sourced from vines planted in Tournon, averaging 40 years in age.

The grapes undergo a three-day cold soak before being foot-trodden in open wooden fermenting vats at the start of fermentation with 25% whole cluster. The wine is aged in a combination of new to ten-year-old demi-muids (60%) and barriques (40%), for 9 to 12 months before bottling and rests in the bottle for an additional 6 months before being released for sale.

Tasting Note:

Shimmering violet colour. Primary red and blue fruit aromas, along with suggestions of olive, smoked meats and cracked pepper. Offers fleshy, appealingly sweet cherry and blackberry flavours that turn spicier and firm up through the back half. Subtly chewy tannins add grip to a long smoky finish that leaves cherry and spice notes behind.
