Domaine Rapet Beaune 1er Cru "Greves" 2019, 750ml
This over 50-year-old parcel on a steep slope is gradually revealing its potential for producing exceptional wines.
Les Grèves is the most important climat in Beaune covering 31.3 hectares and primarily planted with Pinot Noir, producing full-bodied reds.
Planted in the midslope Les Grèves is exposed to southeast and named for its gravelly soils, based on limestone, providing excellent drainage. The lack of water and nutrients in the topsoil encourages deep root growth to reach hydration from the rock below, contributing to its weight and depth.
Fermentation lasts 15 days with punch downs, allowing the wine to soak up the richness and color from the grape skins before pressing. The wine ages in 20% new oak barrels.
Tasting Note:
Beautiful bright ruby red colour, with a bouquet of dark fruits such as raspberries and a powerful, spicy sip with delicate tannins.
