Domaine Thibault Liger Belair Nuits St Georges 1er Cru "Les St Georges" 2019, 750ml
This 2.05-hectare plot, planted in 1944, is located in the southern part of the appellation. "Les Saint-Georges" is one of the oldest climates, with vines planted as early as the year 1000. These old vines are planted on deep, very stony limestone brown soil, ideal for producing rich and structured wines built for aging.
The grapes are harvested by hand, with 40% whole clusters used. Fermentation lasts for three weeks with very moderate intervention. The wine is aged for 22 months, with 50% in new barrels.
Tasting Note:
A wine that has a wonderful substance and fine-grained, elegant tannins revealing pure fruit. On the nose, the quality of the terroir comes through: beautifully defined, mineral-driven, hints, black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine but firm tannins, dark berry fruit laced with white pepper, merging into a finely structured and persistent finish.
