Domaine JC Rion Nuits Saint Georges V.V. 2021, 750ml

Rion is a well-known family name in Burgundy and Jean-Charles' teaching years took place on the family domain Daniel Rion. Today, with his 6 hectares, he carries the torch forward in solid wine artisan style. In his own name after taking over his parents' – Olivier & Anne Marie Rions – domain with cellar in the heart of Nuits-St-Georges. The approach is hands on in the field and on the sorting table, and just as much hands off in the cellar, where fermentation in stainless steel barrels and fourteen days of maceration produce juicy, vibrant wines. All of Jean-Charles' grapes come from his own fields and tasting them together is like a bicycle ride through the different terroirs.

A nice concentrated nose, with a bouquet of dark berries such as black cherries, blackberries and blackcurrants, accompanied by forest floor truffles and a hint of smoke. In the mouth, the dark berries continue, as well as fullness and structure with a lively acidity that ends with notes of licorice and an earthy minerality. Ideal for rich and complex dishes such as duck and beef, preferably with mushrooms and truffles on top.
