Domaine Jean Tardy Bourgogne Hautes Cotes de Nuits "Cuvee Maelie" 2019, 750ml
This 1.04-hectare (2.57-acre) vineyard, planted with Pinot Noir in 1966, is situated above Vosne Romanee in (Concoeur) and features an east-west orientation with clay-limestone and silt soil.
During vinification, the grapes are 100% destemmed, with 65% remaining as whole berries. The process includes a cold pre-fermentation maceration at 10°C and minimal punch-downs. The wine is then aged for 15 months in one-year-old barrels and racked once before bottling, resulting in a refined and elegant Pinot Noir.
Tasting Note:
The 2019 Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Cuvée Maelie Rouge, matured in 10% new oak, has a light nose of brambly red fruit, more raspberry than strawberry. The palate is medium-bodied with sharp tannins on the entry, and quite angular at the moment, but very fresh, with a pleasant peppery finish.
