Maison Thiriet Vezelay Village "Champs Cervin" 2020, 750ml

100% Chardonnay sourced from the lieu-dit Champs Cervin in the village of Tharoiseau, located east of Vézelay. The vineyard's soils are predominantly limestone, contributing to the wine's mineral character. The grapes are fermented with indigenous yeasts in wooden vats and aged in oak barrels for 12 months, with 20% of the barrels being new.

Tasting Note:

Upon opening, the new oak is initially prominent but mellows with a brief decant. The wine exhibits a lovely tension between firm acidity and succulent fruit flavors, including orange, apple, and a hint of cantaloupe. The texture is reminiscent of peach skin, with a cool, minerally core enveloped in flesh. On the palate, it is voluptuous yet elegant and harmonious, with a focused and flowing character. The salty finish delivers subtle hints of aniseed and liquorice.
