Chateau de Chamirey Mercurey 1er Cru "Les Cinq" 2013, 750ml
After the exceptional 2010 vintage, the family introduced 'Les Cinq,' a prestigious cuvée that blends the best barrels from five Premier Crus of the Château: Les Ruelles (monopole), En Sazenay, Clos du Roi, Clos l'Évêque, and Champs-Martin.
The winemaking process starts with a 4 to 6-day cold pre-fermentation maceration to enhance phenolic extraction. The grapes are partially destemmed and undergo a 15-day maceration with punch-downs and pump-overs, using natural yeasts for fermentation.
The wine ages 100% in traditional 228-liter Burgundian barrels for 15 months, with about 80% new barrels. It then spends three months in stainless steel tanks before bottling. Only French oak from Allier and Vosges forests is used.
Tasting Note:
Lovely deep garnet colour. The nose is fresh, powerful and delicate. Nice and intense fruits expressions. The wine feels like lace on the palate. It develops fresh fruits notes, blackcurrant and blueberry. Long aftertaste with a well integrated structure.
