Chateau de Chamirey Mercurey 1er Cru "Clos du Roi" Rouge 2019, 750ml
The Clos du Roi vineyard consists of four adjacent plots planted between 1970 and 2002. The vineyard faces south/south-west with a concave slope and features dark-brown soil with chalky borders.
The winemaking process begins with a 4 to 6-day cold pre-fermentation maceration to enhance phenolic extraction. The grapes are partially destemmed and undergo a 15-day maceration with punch-downs and pump-overs. Natural yeasts are used for fermentation.
Aging takes place in traditional 228-liter Burgundian barrels for 10 months, with about 25% new barrels. The wine then spends four months in stainless steel tanks before bottling. Only French oak from Allier and Vosges forests is used.
Tasting Note:
Beautiful and deep ruby colour with a velvety aspect. Expressive nose of small red fruits with notes of pepper and clove. In the mouth, the attack is full and lively. Then the mid-palate is ample with a silky texture. Long and fresh finish.
