Domaine Pierre Morey Volnay 1er Cru "Santenots" 2018, 750ml

100% Pinot Noir grown in a 0.35-hectare parcel located in the lieu-dit Les Pétures, technically within Meursault but classified as Volnay 1er Cru 1. The vineyard, planted in 1974, lies mid-slope on shallow, red, clay-limestone soils with good wind protection. The domaine has farmed it biodynamically since 2004. The grapes were fully destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks, followed by ageing in French oak barrels, 50% of which were new.

Tasting Note:

On the nose, the wine reveals aromas of cherries, plums, and sweet soil tones, with hints of spice and embers. The palate is medium to full-bodied, muscular yet refined, with powdery tannins and a chalky grip. Overall, it’s a structured and age-worthy Volnay that combines aromatic depth with mineral tension and finesse.
