Akayane Gin Heart "Haru" (Spring), 720ml
Akayane Distillery is an independently owned and operated distillery located in Ei, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan.
Established in 2006, it produces artisanal spirits using locally grown Satsuma imo sweet potatoes and crystal-clear, mineral-rich groundwater from Mount Kaimondake.
The distillery utilizes both European direct-heating and Japanese indirect-heating stills for distillation, and experiments with diverse cask types for maturation, including ex-bourbon, ex-sherry, and Japanese Mizunara oak.
Spring: The first scents that waft up as you bring the glass to your nose are the pine resin-like aroma from the juniper berries, along with the aromas reminiscent of “shincha” first harvest tea: matcha, sakura (cherry blossom) leaves, the seashore, sansho, and yuzu, along with the slight saltiness from the konbu kelp. Make the world-famous gin and tonic cocktail and add cherry blossoms to feel Japanese spring.
