Imperial 1990, 33 Year Old "The Recollection Series #3" G&M (2024), 700ml
Imperial 33 Year Old is a single cask release from G&M Recollection Series #3, which features rare whiskies from closed distilleries. Distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2024 at 52.7% ABV, this Speyside single malt was matured for 33 years in a refill American hogshead (Cask #9825), yielding only 63 bottles. It is non-chill filtered and bottled without added colour. The distillery was closed in 1998, and this bottling preserves its elegant and fruit-driven style through long-term maturation.
Tasting Note:
On the nose, the whisky opens with orange oil, brown sugar, peanut brittle, poached pear, clover honey, and pineapple. The palate is sweet and layered, showing lime, cocoa powder, cracked black pepper, green apple, chilli spice, and herbal notes. The finish is full-bodied, with tropical fruit and toasted oak. This bottling offers a vibrant and mature profile shaped by decades of slow ageing and the refined character of a lost Speyside distillery.
