This is a remarkable 1983 vintage Caol Ila, which was launched as part of Diageo's 2014 Special Releases when it was 30 years old. The whisky was matured in a combination of refill American and refill European oak casks. It has a unique taste, which is like a mix between Brora and Port Ellen whiskies. It combines the waxy texture of Brora with the leather note of Port Ellen.

Nose: Rich, complex, and elegant aroma with smoke, ash, brine, nuttiness, sweet fruit, and citrus.

Palate: Salty, medicinal, with earthy peat, melon, papaya, spice, licorice, oak, vanilla, and luxurious mouthfeel.

Finish: Long, with smoke, ash, and sweet and spicy balance.
