Benrinnes 1978, 43 Year Old "Private Collection" G&M, 700ml
The โPrivate Collectionโ features a truly exceptional and unique range of greatly aged single malts from a mixture of celebrated, little-known, and now closed distilleries across Scotland.
The 43 year old Benrinnes was distilled in 1978, matured in Refilled American Hogsheadย and bottled in 2021 from cask #1636, at 54.5% ABV.
Only 158 hand-blown crystal decanters have been produced.
Named after its imposing namesake mountain, Benrinnes Distillery crafts a bold Speyside whisky. Mineral-rich water from Ben Rinnes itself fuels production, while traditional worm tubs lend a distinct meaty character. This full-bodied dram, perfect for after dinner, stands out as one of Speyside's most unique and flavorful whiskies.
Nose: Bright salted lemon flavours are followed by honeysuckle and pineapple. Dried apricots come to the fore alongside brown sugar.
Palate: Sweet citrus fruits and watermelon are balanced by spicy peppercorns. Marzipan and subtle charred oak develops alongside a hint of dried tobacco.
Finish: A medium to long finish with roasted nuts.
