Ardbeg Uigeadail, 700ml
Founded in 1798 on the rugged shores of Islay, Ardbeg Distillery carries a legacy deeply linked with heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky. While it faced closures and ownership changes throughout its history, Ardbeg eventually found its home under the LVMH umbrella in 1997, securing its future and allowing it to flourish.
What truly sets Ardbeg apart is its unwavering commitment to peat. The barley used in their whisky is heavily peated over Islay's own peat fires, infusing the spirit with an unmistakable smoky, medicinal character.
Named after the distillery’s water source, this whisky is a marriage of sweetness, spice and deep smokiness. The peat-laden waters of Loch Uigeadail provide the smoky tones in this whisky, while maturation in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks imparts rich, warm flavours.
Aromas: Rich, smoky with Christmas cake, walnut, spice. Water reveals leather, deeper smoke.
Palate: Full-bodied, sweet & smoky. Winter spices, honey-glazed smokiness, treacle.
Finish: Long, chewy. Raisin, mocha, lingering smoke.
