Kilkerran 8 Year Old Cask Strength (released 2025), 700ml

The peated counterpart to Hazelburn from Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown, this annual cask-strength release is distilled from floor-malted barley, lightly peated to around 15–20 ppm, and fully matured in hand-selected ex-bourbon barrels for eight years. Triple-distilled for smoothness. Batch 12, released March 2025. 55.6% ABV. Limited to 12,000 bottles worldwide.

Tasting Note:

Aromas of vanilla pod, caramelised banana loaf, green apple skin, toasted coconut and gentle coastal peat, with lemon zest, honeyed oats and a briny tang emerging over time.

The palate is bold and oily, opening with banoffee richness, ripe pear and butterscotch, underpinned by refined peat smoke. Mid-palate reveals panna cotta, crushed almond and pepper spice, wrapped in viscous cask strength texture.

The finish is long and rewarding, fading through vanilla cream, orchard fruit and a whisper of sea salt.
A powerful Kilkerran bourbon expression, amplifying peaty fruit and subtle brine without losing finesse. Superb now, with 5–10 years of evolution ahead.
